Get the tissues ready. This song was written in one afternoon over lunch at a Thai restaurant after seeing a Facebook post from a friend who has been undergoing chemo treatment for cancer.
She had taken time out for a walk - hairless from the chemo, no makeup, and without any public facade on what she had actually been going through in this season of her journey. And it left her feeling completely vulnerable, exposed and emotionally raw for the looks she was getting from passers by as she ventured out.
This song comes out of the emotion of someone going through a life changing journey. Maybe it struck a raw nerve to me because of my own medical dramas. But it's a soulful, heart-wrenching outpouring of the need to have someone else there just to be with you in those moments. To hold their hand. Share the tears. The pain. The heartache of the journey.
It's called Dance With Me. I hope and prayer is that it helps you - and those close to you - if you're on a similar journey. Personally, I was bawling my eyes out when I wrote it, and honestly it totally broke me when I listened back for the first time.
I know it's been a cathartic outlet for a number of people already who are going through various journeys and battles. My prayer is that it helps many others going through similar journeys.
