From the recording Freshman 61
This track is kind of autobiographical. I've always been a bit of a "square peg", never really fitting into stock standard roles or social structures. This track is what resulted from many years of frustrations with "never fitting in".
Ironically, I chose a female voice for this AI Demo as it fitted much better with the feel, structure and style of the song. Even though I'm a "cookie cutter kinda guy...."
Lyrics
Square peg
Round hole
I don’t fit in
With where you want me to go
You cast me out
You put me down
I don’t care
I’m standing on my own ground
I’m not one for living up to expectations
I’ve never been a cookie cutter kind of guy
Can’t hold me back from this journey He is leading
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t derail my dreams
I’m on a different track
I don’t look left
I don’t look right
I just look up
That’s what’s in my sight
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Time for me to fly
You box me in
To your four walls
I’m breaking out
I’m answering to a different call
You tie me down
Your structured rules
Babe it isn’t me
You’re gonna find I ain’t nobody’s fool
I’m not one for living up to expectations
I’ve never been a cookie cutter kind of guy
Can’t hold me back from this journey He is leading
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t derail my dreams
I’m on a different track
I don’t look left
I don’t look right
I just look up
That’s what’s in my sight
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Time for me to fly
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t hold me down
I’m on a different track
I’m not one for living up to expectations
I’ve never been a cookie cutter kind of guy
Can’t hold me back from this journey He is leading
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Don’t hold me down
Don’t hold me back
Don’t derail my dreams
I’m on a different track
I don’t look left
I don’t look right
I just look up
That’s what’s in my sight
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
I’ll spread my wings when it’s time for me to fly
Time for me to fly
Fly fly fly
When it's time for me to fly
Fly fly fly
When it's time for me to fly
When it's time for me to fly
Fly
