From the recording Freshman 61
I love this track. And yes - Wongala is a place. A farm in the NSW Riverina region that holds so many special memories for the families that have gathered there on our extended weekends away over many, many years. Lots of cherished memories.
Really happy with how this track turned out, because it just captures the essence of what this place means to us. Will be the first music video when I get the chance to match up the footage with the music!
Lyrics
Fields of gold through the passage of time
Sun shining bright over the plains
Hear the sound of the applause from the crowd
On the roof when it gently rains
Stories told around the fire late at night
Dancing of the embers as they glow
Moon shines bright in a bed of twinkling stars
I must be dreaming don’t you know
If you were never here you wouldn’t understand
The connection in this place to the land
Wide open space
Something about this place
I’m Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
Laughter and tears through the times that we shared
Memories echoing through the walls
Of lambs and yabbies and rides on the ute
Wongala beckons can you hear it’s call
If you were never here you wouldn’t understand
The connection in this place to the land
Wide open space
Something about this place
I’m Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
I must be dreaming
Wongala dreaming
If you were never here you wouldn’t understand
The connection in this place to the land
Wide open space
Something about this place
I’m Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
Wongala dreaming
