From the recording Darkness & Light
This song is based on a sermon I heard late in 2025 about Noah and the Ark. It's in Genesis 7:16, where, after all the opportunities given for people to choose to be saved from the coming flood, God shut the door to the Ark. The time and opportunity to be saved had actually run out.
There is a judgement day coming. The world is currently spinning seemingly increasingly out of control on so many fronts. Wars. Famines. Earthquakes. Floods. Climate Change. Technology. We seem to be finding it increasingly hard to hold on. It's insanity.
The Bible talks about "as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be before the coming of the Son of Man (Matthew 24:37). Could God be about to "shut the door" again? Tomorrow holds no guarantees, so where do you stand? Do you think time is on your side?
Lyrics
You spend your whole life wandering
Thinking time is on your side
Exploring different pathways
Just along for the ride
But everything has a beginning
And all things will have an end
Tell me how long is a piece of string
On what foundation do you depend?
Nothing lasts forever
Do you think time is on your side?
Gods gonna shut the door
He’s gonna shut the door (He’s gonna shut the door)
He’ll give you a chance
Before it rains before it pours (before it pours)
But he’s gonna shut the door
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
He’s gonna shut the door
Nothing lasts forever
Tomorrow holds no guarantees
Won’t last forever
Tomorrow holds no guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
Nothing lasts forever
Do you think time is on your side?
Gods gonna shut the door
He’s gonna shut the door (He’s gonna shut the door)
He’ll give you a chance
Before it rains before it pours (before it pours)
But he’s gonna shut the door
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
He’s gonna shut the door
When the trumpet sounds
And judgement calls
There’ll be no escape
He will shut the door
Tick tock the clock is ticking
The invitation stands
Make a choice while there’s still time
The choice is in your hands
Nothing lasts forever
Do you think time is on your side?
Gods gonna shut the door
He’s gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
He’ll give you a chance
Before it rains before it pours (before it pours)
But he’s gonna shut the door
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
Gonna shut the door (Gonna shut the door)
He’s gonna shut the door
Nothing lasts forever
Tomorrow holds no guarantees
Won’t last forever
Tomorrow holds no guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
No guarantees
Gods gonna shut the door
Gonna shut the door
The door
Gonna shut the door
Gonna shut the door
He’s gonna shut the door
It’s not going to last forever
Do you think time is on your side
