From the recording Darkness & Light
This track follow on from the previous 3 tracks ,which I regard as the crux of the "darkness" theme of the album.
For the church - to whom Jesus gave the "great commission" to follow His example and go and make disciples (Matthew 28:18–20) - has failed considerably in its task. Particularly the show ponies of the Western church - both in the church leaders and the politicians who claim His name to justify their political agenda. Love your neighbour as yourself - do you think we'll ever learn?
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are indeed few. And those who we have in our corridors of power are straight out lying, deceiving and creating false narratives - in the name of God.
Lyrics
I look out all around me
Can’t help but want to weep
The sinners don’t see no sin no more
And the Saints are all asleep
Someone is at war tonight
Another ends it all
A million sick and hungry eyes
In silent screaming call
In the corridors of power
You claim God is on your side
But the wails and groans of dead man’s bones
Are screaming that you lied
Oooh that you lied
Whoa you lied
Oooh that you lied
You still think God is on your side
And yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Maybe it's time to turn the tide
And yet you lied
Yet you lied
Oooh whoa you lied
Liar, liar
Pants on fire
You've wasted your life
On the wrong desires
Like an emperor king
Without attire
So many chances
Yet you still conspire
Liar Liar
Such a foolish liar
Sticks and stones and guns and bombs
And words will always hurt
Love your neighbour as yourself
Do you think we’ll ever learn
Someone is at war tonight
Another ends it all
A million sick and hungry eyes
In silent screaming call
In the corridors of power
You claim God is on your side
But the wails and groans of dead man’s bones
Are screaming that you lied
Oooh that you lied
Whoa you lied
Oooh that you lied
You still think God is on your side
And yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Maybe it's time to turn the tide
And yet you lied
Yet you lied
Oooh whoa you lied
We’re looking for the reason
We’re all crying for release
Foundations built on sandy ground
Will never find you peace
Someone is at war tonight
Another ends it all
A million sick and hungry eyes
In silent screaming call
In the corridors of power
You claim God is on your side
But the wails and groans of dead man’s bones
Are screaming that you lied
Oooh that you lied
Whoa you lied
Oooh that you lied
You still think God is on your side
And yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Oh and yet you lied
Maybe it's time to turn the tide
And yet you lied
Yet you lied
Oooh whoa you lied
Liar, liar
Pants on fire
You've wasted your life
On the wrong desires
Like an emperor king
Without attire
So many chances
Yet you still conspire
Liar Liar
Such a foolish liar
Oooh you lied
What’s it like inside?
Whoa you lied
Who is really on your side?
Oooh you lied
You’re the bridesmaid not the bride
Whoa You lied
It’s not too late to turn the tide
