From the recording Life Support
Written in 2004, in some ways this one is a little bit autobiographical. I think I have probably have spent most of my life having a "runaway heart". Maybe it's the ADHD in me, but I have always had a bit of a restless demeanour. Just slightly.
So I kinda get it when I see others also struggling to find some sort of peace & security in their own heart. We live in a world with many runaway hearts, trying to find ways to fill that "hollow feeling". Often lashing out in anger and frustration because they know there must be something better, but just don't know how to find it.
Lyrics
Runaway heart
Runaway heart
Angry young man
With a runaway heart
This castle
Built on sand
Fell down
With a single command
You're just an angry young man
With a Runaway Heart
You'd love to be free
But you just don’t know where to start
So you hold on to your pride
While inside your fall apart
‘Cause you're an angry young man
With a Runaway Heart
Runaway heart
Runaway heart
This pride
This heart
Nothing left
Tell me where do you start
Finding ways to fill this hollow feeling
Looking for answers where the questions reside
Some how there’s got to be some sort of healing
Some way to supress this pain that’s burning inside
You're just an angry young man
With a Runaway Heart
You'd love to be free
But you just don’t know where to start
So you hold on to your pride
While inside you fall apart
‘Cause you're an angry young man
With a Runaway Heart
Runaway heart
Runaway heart
Angry young man
With a runaway heart
Love is the answer
And it's time to make a start
For an angry young man
With a runaway heart
