From the recording Life Support
Originally written in 1988, this track encapsulates the desperation and chaos that engulfs modern society. It implores the listener that it's time to make a change before the chaos overwhelms and time runs out. Musically, this version creates the frantic atmosphere that the lyrics suggest. I also created a more moderate, lounge version which is also featured on this album, but the message is the same. Time is running short.
Lyrics
Take a look at me
Can you see
There’s a fire that burns for you
If I enter a plea
I’m guilty
Now tell me watcha gonna do
Now I look in your eyes
Telling me lies
There’s something going on
Here’s a word to the wise
Don’t disguise
That it’s turning out so wrong
When I should be glad
There’s so much makes me sad
The times we should have had
It’s time to make the change
Is there compassion here
Our hearts have frozen clear
I want to get out of here
It’s time to make the change
Time to make the change
Make the change
Overdue change of the heart
Yet when will it start
We build our lives on sand
It’s beginning to fall
End of it all
Now it doesn’t look so grand
Look up to the sky
There’s trouble brewing high
I can see it in your eyes
Spread your wings it’s time to fly
When I should be glad
There’s so much makes me sad
The times we should have had
It’s time to make the change
Is there compassion here
Our hearts have frozen clear
I want to get out of here
It’s time to make the change
Time to make the change
Make the change
There’s a man of tears
Two thousand years
He’s still knocking at the door
While there is still time
To make up your mind
Take your chance or lose it all
When I should be glad
There’s so much makes me sad
The times we should have had
It’s time to make the change
Is there compassion here
Our hearts have frozen clear
I want to get out of here
It’s time to make the change
Time to make the change
Make the change
