From the recording I Think I Like You.
This is actually the first song that got me seriously writing in a "pub rock" genre. I was playing around with different ideas musically and lyrically early in 2026, trying to find a style of song that harked back to the style of music I was seeing and hearing back in the days when I was first involved in the industry around the early - mid 1980's. "What We're Living For" captures the style and feel of those mid-1980's rock tracks, with a lyric that questions motives around our lifestyle and delves a little deeper to ask what are we really living for?
Lyrics
You’re in my ears
You’re in my brain
You’re in my face
And it’s driving me insane
I don't know
And baby I'm not sure
Is there any way to tell me
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
Yeah what we're living for
I can’t go out
I can’t stay in
I can’t forget
I’ve got no idea where I’ve been
When did we turn our backs on paradise
How did we end up on the streets
I just don't know the answer
But we can’t go back to where we’ve been
I don't know
And baby I'm not sure
Is there any way to tell me
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
Yeah what we're living for
You twist your words
You say your lines
Your lips are moving
But what you said I can’t define
I don't know
And baby I'm not sure
Is there any way to tell me
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
Yeah what we're living for
I don't know
And baby I'm not sure
Is there any way to tell me
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
What we're living for
Living living
What we're living
Yeah what we're living for
