From the recording I Think I Like You.
The lyric for this song was originally written in 1984. Forty plus years later, and here we still are...
Don't really need to say too much, because our politicians are still playing games. We're still blowing things up. Still killing innocents. Still lusting after power and control. Taking in vain the use of God's name to achieve our own lustful purposes.
Lyrics
Where have we booked to go today
I hear it’s fun in Iran
Maybe we’ll get to start a holy war
Blow up everything if we can
Hey let’s get down to the Middle East
The land of religious wars
Politics are the soup of the day
And the powers keep filling their jaws
It's only your greed your satisfying
Do you think you've gone far enough?
The screams and cries of those that are dying
Please tell me when will it stop?
Playing your games of war
You keep playing your games
Hey it's nothing but insane
Playing your games of war
Your games of war
You keep taking your aim
Behind the cloak of God's name
To play your games of war
Yeah your games of war
So what are you fighting for
When you're playing your games of war
Games of war
We sit back and watch the arms race
The powers in their lust
Place your bets who will hit it first
Do you really know who to trust?
Tell me when you've had enough
Do you think it's gone past a joke?
'Cause no one laughs when the bombs go off
And we're only left with smoke
It's only your greed your satisfying
Yeah I really think that’s enough
The screams and cries of those that are dying
Please tell me when will it stop?
Playing your games of war
You keep playing your games
Hey it's nothing but insane
Playing your games of war
Your games of war
You know you're taking in vain
The use of God's name
To play your games of war
Yeah your games of war
So what are you fighting for
When you're playing your games of war
Games of war
And you hide behind
Your foolish pride
When judgement calls
You're gonna fall
