From the recording Freshman 61
A quiet yet raw poem I originally wrote in 1996, put to music.
It's a reflection that looks at someone who has been going in one direction in life, yet discovering that what they are really after is something that they maybe left or rejected a long time ago.
And so after the past, the hurt, the lies, the questions come... could we start afresh today?
The prodigal son is asking the question - is it possible to return and start again?
Lyrics
What if I took You for granted
If I left you way behind
I walked down paths of hollow dreams
That left me lame and blind
Could I still call out to You
Would you still reach out Your hand
Touch my heart and cleanse my soul
Make my life as it was planned
Would you help this blind man see again
Would you teach these feet to move
Fix this cracked and broken heart
And fill it with Your love
And if I took a step of faith
Would you meet me part the way
Would you forget the past, the hurt, the lies
Could we start afresh today?
