From the recording Gotta Start Somewhere
This song was a fun way to finish off the album. Kind of a cathartic release to the energy that had built up over the course of the album. For me, it was an expression of celebration to what I had been through in 2024, set to the lively energy of an upbeat dance track. Lyrically, it was originally put together in 1986, but it felt so good to let it out as an expression of celebration! It seems to have picked up a number of streams, too!
Lyrics
Standing here my feet start moving
The rhythm has got me I can’t stop grooving
Tapping my toes to the beat of the music
I’ve just got to dance, you know I can’t refuse it
It’s spreading through my system
I just cant ignore this feeling inside
Like King David of old
it’s filling my soul
I’m tapped into the river of life
I’ve got to dance to the music
Dance to the beat
Dance to the music
Dance to the beat
My heart is overwhelmed
Because of His love for me
Come throw away the burdens you’re bearing
No place for them here they’re not worth your wearing
Can you hear all creation singing
Sounding out the words as the music is ringing
It’s spreading through my system
I just cant ignore this feeling inside
Like King David of old
It’s filling my soul
I’m tapped into the river of life
I’ve got to dance to the music
Dance to the beat
Dance to the music
Dance to the beat
My heart is overwhelmed
Because of His love for me
I’ve got to dance
Dance to the music
Got to dance
Dance to the music
Dance
Dance
I’ve got to dance to the music
Dance to the beat
Dance to the music
Dance to the beat
My heart is overwhelmed
Because of His love for me
Because of His love for me
Because of His love for me
