From the recording Gotta Start Somewhere
This song is the crux of the album. My turning point. I had realised that I had buried my love of music, songwriting and creativity so deep underground for so many years, that I would probably never realise the potential.
And after my medical dramas of 2024, I had became increasingly convicted by the passage about the Parable Of The Talents in Matthew 25:14-30. I found out first hand that time was indeed short, and I had largely failed my original calling by ignoring my gifts and talents to many, many years.
So, this song came about when I made a conscious decision to alter my life and start digging to find what I had buried. In my case, the realisation was forced upon me through circumstance, but it doesn't have to be. It's never too late to start a new chapter.
Lyrics
I loved you once
That was long ago
But somehow i found myself
Travelling a path on a different road
It gave me fame without the fortune
I got to number one
But I still fell short of the hopes and dreams
Of what I was striving to become
And you gotta start somewhere
It’s never too late
To turn around
And find the things
You buried so deep underground
You gotta start somewhere
You gotta start somewhere
And now I find that circumstance
Has turned me right around
I’m digging deep to discover me
So what I lost can still be found
And you gotta start somewhere
It’s never too late
To turn around
And find the things
You buried so deep underground
You gotta start somewhere
You gotta start somewhere
Each day is a new beginning
A chance to start again
Sometimes it is forced upon you
But don’t leave it till it’s close to the end
You gotta start somewhere
It’s never too late
To turn around
And find the things
You buried so deep underground
You gotta start somewhere
You gotta start somewhere
You gotta start somewhere
It’s never too late
To turn around
And find the things
You buried so deep underground
You gotta start somewhere
You gotta start somewhere
It’s not too late
You gotta start somewhere
It’s never too late
You gotta start somewhere
